The Highline and the color

Video week!

I'm going to try something different this week.

I've  always been interested in photography and the moving image. But it wasn't until a few years ago that I jumped right into it. I like carrying my camera around town shooting these little snapshots of my city.

This is the latest one.

loved this place so much. sitting on that damn statue. walking on the grass. and best of all, listening to beautiful music.

Yup
a process video!
I start off with reference.
Then I use a blue pencil to do a quick sketch, going over it with a thin ball point and finally a brush pen.
After this, I'll scan the image and lay some colors over it. Look for that in the coming weeks!

woah

so it turns out i was too busy to post any updates on the 72 hour shoot out. good news is. i finished it. barely.

yes, it was very diy. and it was all filmed in greenscreen. note to self, never do that again. especially if time is an issue. it took forever to render.

first update.

Ok so the theme is "two faces" I started writing the screenplay when it was announced on twitter. so from 8pm to 1:31 am I've been writing it. My story is about a man and his friends/coworkers being interviewed. Why does he want to go to a one way trip to Mars. Since my strength is in graphics and visuals, I intend to work on some of the effects before Saturday's shoot.
step one. MAKE A DAMN SPACE SHIP FROM SCRATCH!.

72 hour shootout

Hey there

I'm doing something called the 72 hour shootout this weekend. The Asian American Film Lab http://www.asianamericanfilmlab.com/  does a competition every year where film makers have 72 hours to write, shoot, edit and upload a 5 minute short. It starts tonight, They will announce the theme at about 8pm and I'll start coming up with ideas at 8:05. My script should be ready by Friday afternoon. After the script is complete, I'll do simple storyboards and gather my equipment and my crew. Filming should take place saturday morning and afternoon, depending on how much special effects is needed, I will also be filming that.  Saturday night into sunday morning I'll be editing the film and uploading it sunday night.
Well that's the plan.
I will be posting updates as I begin.
Ready?!

new rig!

Well, not really, basically I purchased a new 1/4 to 1/4 adapter. Took the handle from my shoulder rig and just attached it directly onto the bottom of the camera with my viewfinder and Zoom H5. nice and light. Not as steady as it would be with the shoulder rig, but for run and gun, not too shabby, have my 3 points of contact. Also it's only 5 bucks for the adapter.
Oh and the wind screen on the top? I made that out of some sample fur (free) from the fabric store. Works like a charm.

Sorry for not posting anything yesterday, so I'm posting Saturday to make up for it!

Education video for the kids.

So I built these puppets for this year's Christmas card. Since i had them laying around I'll use them to teach my Nieces and Nephew the Alphabets.
